Are sidecars attachments still being made?

Just out of sheer curiosity but wondering if sidecar are still being made as an attachment for harley's made within the last 30 yrs or so? Also if possible someone even manages to attach one what changes with the handling characteristics?

Its a concept I consider for some who is terrified to be on a bike itself.I would love to take my wife on a ride but she wont get on. So i thought if side cars are made I might be able to get her comfortable in that. Hey it just a thought and a shot but maybe worth the try.

Yes. However, they're clamp style mount to the frame vs through the frame as they were decades ago. They clamp to the front down tubes and mount to the swingarm pivot mounts.
So how they affect handling i wonder?

Terribly. You can't lean. Right turns are a battle due to side car lift. Its a suck-story with 3 wheels. But.....it makes the bike more utilitarian.

That would make a side car almost useless.
They were a utility device. Never meant to enhance handling. Only motorcycle I ever saw that a sidecar was a bonus was BMW or a Ural, where the sidecar had a drive wheel to assist in bad weather. Outside of that.......a place to put a passenger or more stuff. Requires a stronger belt on HD models. Regardless.....I'd love a sidecar.
Never driven with one on just concerned with that i only rode a bike for 3yrs and that i may have a prob learning to drive with one attached. I thought with the extra weight a passenger would make it easier.
A sidecar is a slow, calculated ride. Not difficult. Just lower speeds and methodical. Slower corners and slower pull-out. I'm OK with that......
Check your state's license requirements. For example, WA state requires a special three-wheel endorsement for bikes with sidecars, trikes and those strange things with two in front and one in back.

Hmmmmm....... Yeah typical... :laugh
No hurry..... Just wanna ride. Same principle.

One of these days you`ll learn to stop and smell the roses. Or at least wish you had.

I really don't think Missouri has such requirement except you have to have a class m endorsement.

Sounds like driving an 18 wheeler, same principle slow methodical turns
Sidecars carry,3 not 2 people. They were designed to replicate a car but be cheaper. A necessity of WWI and a lost concept after the 40s. It requires a full garage bay, slow and calculated driving practice an an OEM HD sidecar is as much as a used sporty.

FYI: Wild Hogs. The sidecar they gave Dudley, was worth as much, if not more than the sportster he had been riding.
We have a Member who has a side hack on his Sporty.
Can`t remember his name. There are pictures posted. Do`t remember where they are either.

An older member, badinfluence63, had one too. Met him in Kentucky. Had his wife and grandchildren with him. Cool as hell. Left an impression on me. Sold it since, but we keep in touch and just saw him last week on our Bills Bike Barn ride.
Well can any sidecar be clamped on any Harley or are specific ones made for specific models?

Most models are multi-brand adjustable.

I was referring to a different kind of ride, but I'm with you there.
