All right guys. Here is the mission.
Looking for a speedo/tach combo for T~S. For those who do not already know. 99 FXST.
Easy you say? :nah

Am running a single fire ignition. The tach needs to be able to read the altered spark firing.

Have found 2 I like the design of. An Auto Meter and a Medallion Premium. But neither mention single fire capability in their install instructions. :dunno

Any and all leads very appreciated.

Some single fire ignitions have a tach output that works with a HD tach.
The kit is still in the package. Swapping it when I do the cam. Will pull it out to see.

If not, you can get an adaptor to make the single fire coils give the correct trigger to the HD tach.

What it is, is 2 diodes that allow the signal to reach the tach, but not trigger the opposite coil.
Will bookmark that just in case.
Thanks Brian. You da Man. :thumb

If my single fire does not have a provision for reading an OEM tach is that the set-up I would need.
Plan on running the S&S High Output Single Fire Coil.

Running a single coil would only need one side of that harness(?).

You need both sides, one for front, and one for rear.

The single fire ignition module is the CRANE HI-4 SINGLE FIRE IGN.
Pulled the install pdf from pnline. It can run dual or single fire depending on you coil.
A lot of advanced tuning option.
May be missing the OEM tach read option.

Thanks. Looks easy enough to make up myself. A little DIY project. Look Radioshack. Here I come.

16 or 18 gauge wire?

Pretty sure that Crane outputs the correct tach signal whether it is set up for single fire or dual fire mode.

Excellent.
Will know for sure once installed. At least now I know the fix just in case.
And can add the new speedo/tach to my get list for T~S.
Thanks again.
