So I have a 14 sg and I sat on one with harley 12in apes and liked the way it felt was wondering what is a good brand of bars? And pics of the different styles would be cool. What else would I need to install them?

It's not so much brand, as it is style and design. Wrist angle, pullback, etc all come into play when comfort is concerned.

What is needed.....depends on if YOU are doing the install or not, but, wire extensions, urethane riser bushings, clutch cable, brake line are just about all the REQUIRED parts. Grips, and a new Screaming Eagle TBW kit make the job easier. Internally wiring can be VERY challenging, and only gets worse, the more heavily designed bars you look at.

There are two brands that most people are getting Paul Yaffe and LA Choppers/Twin Peaks bars. I went with the LA Choppers bars which are basically the same bars as the Yaffes, but they don't come to a peak before they flare out to the grips and they are about $200 less. As for cables, I went with an extension kit for the internal wiring and splurged for stainless braided brake and clutch cables and new Harley grips. It's all being installed as we speak. I could have maybe done it myself, but my SG being a 2014 and under warranty, I didn't want to take the chance I'd do anything that would void the warranty, so my local HD dealer is installing them.
I like the cycle smith apes I put on my SG. Nothing fancy.

Wild 1's are quite popular, as well as few others. Hill Country customs has a nice kit, and is a good bang for the buck as well. Wrist angle is key, IMHO.
I have read several posts on the apes and everyone is talking about comfort and wrist angles. With those two things being so critical why isn't anyone running the arlen ness modular apes ? You can adjust angles to each personal preference.
I don't like how they look. Let's start there. Lol
Gonzo how much is your dealer getting for the install?
thanks,
Ranger Rick

Okay I see. I haven't been around a lot of different bikes with apes

My best advice....hit the dealers and look at the used bikes, maybe hit some local bike nights, some guy's may even let you swing a leg over and try them....then go from there.
I went with the 10" twin peak bars on my 14 SG. I did the work myself because I am a cheap ass lol. The bars are great for me. I have had to adjust them twice now to get the correct feel.
Pictures also help with making a decision people... Lol well who am I kidding... I just like to see everybody's ride!!!

I have the Yaffee monkey bars 10" (i think) and they sit just under my Klockwerks 6 1/2" windshield. They are a bit expensive and wiring might kill you on labor. Wrist angle is good for me. Check Yaffee's web site they have photos of the bars mocked up on bikes.
