Here is a project that I took on. Talk about a basket case. This came in on Feb 18 and was completed Mar 13. The job was "make one good motor out of two" and buy new parts as needed. The assembled engine in top the pic is the parts horse and NOT a runner. The engine that is all apart in the basket was cleaned, had fresh bearings installed everywhere and then had freshly machined components installed with a new crank pin, bearings, rods and +.020 pistons. The second pic is the completed motor. I think it came out OK.

That Sporty engine is a beauty! I bought a basket case once, way
back in the mid 70's for $300 and did the same thing. Put the whole
bike together, painted it, and sold it for a nice profit.

Back then the valve guides and valve stems would wear out on
Sporty engines and you'd have to rebuild the top end when still
almost new. Things sure have improved since then...
