Battery Laying on its Side Overnight.

Friend called today. Working on his 2010 Dyna. Had battery out for checking/cleaning leads etc. Normal maintenance. Not sure how it happened, found battery laying on its side since yesterday. Normally batteries are supposed to remain upright. Only a few months old HD battery. Concerned if this had any effects on battery. Nothing is leaking. Voltage at 12.6. I don't think it hurt anything ?? On a battery tender now. Anyone have another opinion/wisdom. Appreciate any advice.

If it is sealed battery you are fine. My garage door opener has battery back up, the battery lays on it side.

As above, no leakage should be fine. Just a note a fully charged battery should be 12.7 v, 12.6 v = 75 per cent, 12.3 v = 50 per cent, 12 v = 25 per cent, 11.8 v = 0 per cent.

Yep , with the sealed batteries I heard you can fit them upside down ( if needed )

We call them Gel batteries over here. Damn improvement on the early top up acid ones.I was on a Sportie in 89 and they were a pain in the Butt to top up.

V=Rod batteries are installed on their side.
