boom audio, thoughts?

I am considering adding speakers and amp to my new road glide special. I would do saddle bag lid speakers, amp and wiring harness, and replacement front speakers. I don't listen to music every time I ride, but when I want to, I want it to sound good. I play guitar and bass so I know the sound I am looking for. Is this stuff decent or does it suck?

It's not horrible, but it's not the best either. Did you hear mine?? Most of mine is Boom, and I'm happy for the money I spent, and mine is unamplified too.
yes I heard yours and it sounded GREAT. I still can't believe the unamplified part. That just goes against your grain.

Haha...I am completely revamping, and amping, my whole system. :)
what are you thinking of going with? I was thinking the boom 4 way amp, wiring and 4 new speakers plus lids. big $ when you add it all up

I am going full aftermarket, including the HU. About $2800 total. Alpine HU, and all Hawg Wired amps and speakers.
sounds like a pretty good set up and reasonable in cost. I will stay tuned and do the google thingie....

The amps are only 2ch, is my only complaint. But they are USA made, designed. $400 a piece.....x3.......
that sounds like an issue. Need to study this. Boom is turn key which I like, but I am certain there are better out there
Here is an interesting write up on Boom vs J&M. It is a few years old, but pretty good.

In a nut shell, how much you hear at 80mph will never be as clear as a windless environment. I chose 2 speaker Arc Audio with smaller amp. Much much much better than stock, but low end bass is lacking like most. Satisfied. Need a subwoofer for bass at speed.
thanks Redman! lengthy read but good stuff
