I went to Harley website, downloaded software for my bike on thumb drive, plugged into right side usb wire, then turned to accessories on bike. Nothing happening. On YouTube it should start downloading. Makes me wonder if no power to my bikes usb wire. Will plug phone into it tomorrow and see if it charges. Thought someone may have another idea?

Get more computer savvy. They are part of our lives now and we need to know at least enough to get by. That's really all I do and can build one and program it and stuff. It's actually very easy.
No thanks. Lol I like to use them, just like my bike, but not interested in how they work.
This is Harleys fault imo to not state make sure extensions are not hidden! Not one YouTube video on update install showed this. After download and unzipped all of them showed the iso. Apparently all of their pcs had the correct settings.

Running a Mac I would not have ever thought about the file extension on Windows based PC's, my wife home PC is Windows, now I'm thinking I better check it just in case....
Glad you got it sorted out fixed and updated.
Thank you. Apparently the dealer settings on PC was default like mine to hide extensions. Wonder how many others just said screw the update out of frustration.

If on the file on the computer you right click it do you get an option to open the Disk Image file? I googled ISO files, and they are disc images, but perhaps we have to dig one step deeper after doing the unzip. and do an opening of the Disk Image file to locate the ISO.
I would personally do all that on the USB, not sure you can hurt the PC but just in case. It's about the last thing I can think of but also might solve the reason on my Nav update I could not update the Points of interest and dealers.
Nope, not showing that option.
Will post results from dealer as to wtf!
Thanks again!

When the file is downloaded from the HD website, it is zipped. Once downloaded to your computer, unip the package, and then from a clean flashdrive (formatted, no files on it), double click the package, and then find the file with the .iso on the end and send just that file to the flashdrive.
My problem was there was no file with the iso on it. My above post solved it.

Did you get the file out of the envelope and put it right into just the drive. I had same problem until I put just ISO on the flash drive
It's been so long ago hard to remember.
I think I only had to change file settings, something like hide extensions. Then the iso showed up at the end of file name.

Did you figure this issue out? I am having the exact same issue, I mean verbatim and I could really use some direction. I get the file on the flash drive plug it into the bike, and the radio gives the no media file found, and I hit okay, and it just sits there and does nothing. I did unzip and I make sure it is the only file on the drive. The USB is 64GB and it is FAT32.
I did.
The file name at the end must show " iso". If not make sure you change extensions on PC to correct.

r. I'm having trouble although I have the latest software. Do you know if there is a problem getting a Galaxy S6 Edge (Model SM-G935V) to work with Android Auto on my 2021 Street Glide? It works on the phone but not on Boombox GTS. Any feedback would be appreciated.
This may or not be helpful.
I don't use Android auto. Seemed to go in and out. Rather than try and solve that problem, thought I don't need it. My galaxy is paired with bike so my phone contacts are available, and my playlist. I don't need my phone home page on the display. Haven't used nav. For a long ride yet so can't comment on that aspect.
Good luck!

The OP needs to change settings on his PC if he wants to see the file extensions. By default they are turned off. The disk image file is the ISO file. But to be absolutely certain, turn on the file extension settings. Here is how you do it:

1. Open file explorer.
2. There will be 4 tabs at the very top, chose the far right one that says view.
3. In the pane under those tabs you will find a box to check that says 'File name extensions'. check the box.
4 You are done.
Mine screen may be different than yours, but it shows checked " hide extensions for known file typed". Uncheck this?
Also at top of that shows checked " don't show hidden files, folders and drives". Uncheck this and choose " show hidden files, folders and drives"?
I will wait for your response to not f things up.
Thanks!!
Seems this is the solution! 🙏🙏

Try and add the .iso extension at the end, I have saved files in the past and had to add the extension at the end for some stupid reason, I used to use .ISO files to load operating system on servers, if I didn't see the extension on there it wouldn't work, I would add the extension and then it would work. To add the extension right click on the file and go to rename, go to the end of the file name (do not remove any of the name as it sits) and type .iso, then click off of the file it should now show the .iso as part of the name/file type. It maybe that your computer recognizes it as an .iso but the bike does not.
My PC is not showing iso. Anywhere. Just came back from dealer and they cannot help. We got on PC and everything he did I had done. With exception of once extracted, double clicked on it and 5 files showed up. None had iso. He said just drag 1 to thumbdrive. He did one went to bike, and no luck. I tried the one with swdl and no luck. Other 3 I may try but without iso I have little confidence. On YouTube guy showed the file when 1st downloaded, looks like mine, then when he said " you expand that zip" it showed 1 file with iso! By expand I assumed double click? Still no iso. I just renamed and sent to thumb drive. Looks like this..

Thanks chief 191.
The instructions you posted just says transfer download to flash drive. Not helpful. I read that same thing on instructions on Harley site.
Yes there is power to the chord. Remember my problem is not seeing iso on file name. Don't know why I cannot see that. Thought with my extensive pics of each step it would be obvious to someone who know this tech stuff. I know nothing.
Think I will drop by dealer with thumb drive and ask if they can download the file.
Thank you for giving it a nice try!!

on the desk top folder file, open that file. It should have the update ISO file, only move the ISO file to the USB, the bike can't open the folder with the ISO file in it. These bikes are only so smart.
This is the problem. On desktop when I click "open" I get only this..

See? No iso showing.even double clicking it gives no iso.

So the used space on the USB if no files are showing is the space allocated to the formating of the drive. You should not need to re-download the software, that should be on your PC, when I do file moves on the computer to a USB I typically have two small side by side windows open so I can see the file on the I want to move, then I have the target location (USB) also open so I can drag and drop the file I want and not be switching between window panels. (likely a run on sentence and hope it makes sense)
Once you see the file on the USB, you should be able to disconnect the USB and connect it to the bike, and that should trigger the the update once you have the bike set to Acc.
If the file is dropping the .ISO on the USB side that is a mystery to me. When I checked my USB for the file I used it was labeled swdl.iso.
Ok, I am going through process again, each step with screen shots. After opening the download I clicked on it and get this..

Then I click extract all and get this..

To find how your USB is formatted, do this: plug it in to your PC. You said you don't have a MAC so I'm assuming you have a PC. Open file explorer (the manila envelope icon) and find your USB drive in the column on the left of the screen. Right click on it and select properties, at the bottom of the list. The window that pops up will tell you what format it is in. It will say FAT 32 or eFAT or NTFS or whatever. It will also tell you the size of the drive. Report back with how it is formatted for those guys to continue to help you.
Thank you! It shows Fat32
It shows used space 65,536 bytes 64.0 KB
Free space 30,737,530,880 bytes 28.6 GB

When I plug into pc says 'no files" since I deleted. But above says used. I assume I can still use to upload software? or do I need a new one since I added and removed files so many times?

On your current radio have you checked the current software version it's running? your bike is a '21 and you are downloading '19 + software. So it may be up to date.
You are downloading the software version for North America MY22.21.28.00.
Once unzipped does the file name look like this? swdl_boombox_GTS_DOM.iso and should be about 313MB.
As for your USB make sure there are no other files on it, it may be causing a conflict.
Is the bike ignition switch set it Acc?
Hopefully some part of this help.
I did check software and it's not up to date. Did download correct version. Nothing else on thumbdrive. File name at one point did show the above, but when I removed drive and reinserted, did not show the iso at the end. No idea why but that is the problem. Thanks for the info!

here is the instruction part I don't get..
c. When the download is complete, copy the file within the zipped folder to the root directory (the first or top most directory in
a file system) of a USB flash drive that is 8 GB or larger.

to the root directory of a usb flash drive?? I just copied to the flash drive. I know nothink!

Does anyone see why I cannot get this done? I downloaded the boom gts 2019 + software. Then I opened the 1 file. It is zipped. Then there is a button saying " extract all" which I hit. It loads with green bar. Then I move to desktop. I put thumb drive in, and on left of screen shows the USB drive. I dragged the unzipped( I assume) file to thumb drive. Now that drive shows size of file etc. Bike still won't accept!
Good thing I'm retired so I can spend a good part of the day getting nowhere!
Any ideas appreciated!
