My son and I are planning a trip in a couple weeks from Central Illinois to Louisville to tour the distilleries. We are only able to be there about a day and a half. Any suggestions on route and things not to miss? We are planning to head south at Crawfordsville and go to Evan Williams, Jim Beam, Makers Mark, and Old Talbott Tavern. Thanks.

Suggest you check your calendar and avoid Louisville the weekend of the first Saturday in May as that is the Kentucky Derby. Actually there are a lot of festivities the whole week before the race on Saturday and if you are into that kind of thing you might enjoy it. But, traffic will be a mess, restaurants packed, lodging sold out, crowds everywhere.

We did some off the trail last October but like it was said earlier plan it out. We hit it with races at keanland and home football game kentucky vs South Carolina . Traffic was horrendous. Once we got out away the riding and roads where great. We made it to town branch, wood ford reserve and wild turkey. Did the tour at woodford and it was really cool to see. It takes some time to see them, don't plan on running in and out. Weather turned on us and we headed down to Daniel Boone national forest and checked out the natural bridge, that's worth seeing to.
