OK so here is my issue. I bled my brakes this weekend due to the fact when I squeeze my front brake the lever goes almost to the grip. After bleeding the lever still goes to the grip, could I have bad brake pads? How thick are brake pads supposed to be?

Could be any number of things - insufficiently bled, bled but not topped back off, worn pads, worn caliper, piston sticking, etc. If you have not got the service manual have it checked by an indie or sealer.

ok is it common for the rotor to be making a rubbing sound
Yes as long as it does it 360*. If it only rubs part way around is an indication the rotor could be warped. A warped rotor will pump brake fluid back into the master cylinder causing the lever to be pumped several times to get the fluid back into the caliper.
