So the cap on my 2001 X1 has a bad plastic saddle. I know this is a normal problem. Anyone know a good fix, or a cheap place to get a replacement?

I've been looking on Ebay for a new cap and Saddle is how they refer to the plastic part that twists and locks the cap in place. All I know mine is busted, and it happens alot apperently. ha

If your having problems with OEM, not real cheap, Then "cheap" may not be the way to go.
Maybe start looking at aftermarket. You usually get what you pay for.

Is the cap the style that clicks?
Do`t recall ever hearing about an ongoing problem with them breaking.

You have a couple of options. I have not tried any of these personally, because the cap on my S3 is still good, but I expect it to break at some point. It gets stuck when it gets really hot, which happens occasionally here in Arizona.

This guy sells an aluminum replacement part: Buell x1 Lighting Gas Cap Fix | eBay

There is a guy on a Buell forum who fixes them for $20: Buell Forum » striped plastic gas cap

You can look here: British American Transfer
