I bought my 2006 Street Glide from a dealer a few months ago. I have made many changes, tune up, brakes and more. My list is getting shorter so I finally got around to repainting the rear brake master cynlander because the paint was peeling. When I removed the cover I found the fluid was dark and dirty with some sludge starting to form in the bottom.

So I drained, cleaned and refilled with new Dot 4 fluid. The front brake fluid wasn't as bad but still dark so I changed it also.
So check your brake fluid!!

Yeah I like good brakes. It might be overkill but I change mine every spring......It amazes me how some dealers won't give a used bike the once over before they sell it off.

I bought a old bike bout fifteen years ago and front brake caliper was sticking and just not right, and during the repair noticed that the brake fluid was really dirty looking and had particles in it. Replaced or cleaned everything in brake system...the bike did have plenty of years and miles on it.
:eek-surprise
