I've worked around all sorts of manufacturing in my day and that's not how it really works. You can't just take a few measurements from a product and then clone it. There is so much more to that from metallurgy to tolerance stacking to contend with. If they stole the prints, maybe. Either way, they still have plenty of engineering costs.

That's about all you can do is "try" to avoid Chinesium.

However, to say all Chinese manufactured items are sub-par simply isn't true. Just like America, they have highly advanced manufacturing with high standards of quality, then they have cheap junk. Most US companies go to China because of the cheap junk and to maximum profits it offers them. Every once in a while a company like Apple goes there to manufacture high quality items.

With that being said, 99% of anything that has electrical current has at least some parts made in China these days. There are entire products that are no longer made in the US. An example of that is the failure of Zenith televisions back in 1995. They were the last US brand to make TV's. Now every television you buy is in part, or in whole, made somewhere in Asia and almost all have some Chinese components.
