Hi today My father and I picked up a Harley Davidson Bike partially torn down. As far as I can see the bike is complete and the engine is not froze. I am having trouble finding out what it is. We were told it was a 65 HD Sprint. The vin on the engine is 67H5065. I believe the first two numbers says its a 67 though. I just need the model and the specs on it. Any help would be appreciated.

I think I figure it out,

67- model year
H- Model, Turns out it is a HD Sprint 250cc model H with a max speed of 76 mph.
5065- Production number

Does this sound right?

That's kind of the way Dave was explaining it in a few of his VIN posts.

Sounds like someone messed up paperwork somewhere if they were telling you '65.

Post up some pic's. I'd love to see it.

Good luck!

Will do tomorrow when its light out, The engine is off the bike but it is currently a roller. Soon to be restored if we can get it running first to make sure were not investing in a lost cause.

One thing to remember on the Aermacchi/Harley Sprint is that Aermacchi went by production year on the serial number, Harley went by model year.

So you could have a Sprint with a serial number that started with "65" while Harley called it a "66", depending on what part of the year it was built.
