Does anyone know why Harley named it "Deuce"? What does it stand for? Just curious as I've just inherited one and have been asked. Thanks

The Deuce replaced the Softail Custom back in '00 (Deuce in a way was known as the Softail Custom 2 or "Deuce"). Then when the Deuce was discontinued, back came the Custom. The Deuce was a mild factory custom... chromed coke bottle front forks, stretched tank, a wider rear tire, etc. Does kinda have some appearance parallels with the Rocker.

Thanks much! I've heard a few guesses but your answer makes sense. BTW, after 30 years, it's so sweet to be back motoring on two wheels ... and the Deuce is a wonderful ride.

I had thought I had it figured out that the duece stood for the 2" added to the backbone for the streached look. But hadn't heard the story of the softail custom 2 so I'll go with that one now.
