doing a low buck 103 for my 07 bob

got a set of jugs from a member for 50 bucks-well 65 i kicked in a extra 15 because it cost him 40 just to ship-
found a set of stock pistons from a member for 75-

took them down to hillside for bore hone and gap rings-200 plus the cost of rings-40-50 bucks he said

found a andrews 48 cam for 65- used but very clean-and bought a complete cometic engine gasket set from my local indy for 150-

2 cam bearings will cost about 25 and another 110 for s&s lifters

so ill have about 750 in parts and my buddy who works on hd's is going to watch over me and loan me some specialty tools

i already have tp engineering roller rockers and adjustable push rods along with a accell slm module that works for cams up to 585 lift and ci up to 110- so it should work no problem

might also do a larger intake valve with a valve job thru hillside with the money i saved

Just wondering, since there have been some issues with stock 88s having crank wheels moving even without being modified. Not sure about this -- just what I've read here.

well i got my jugs and pistons back from hillside- have the new s&s lifters and gaskets-
and bought some tools- a dial gauge for checking crank end play, a inner bearing remover installer , the block kit to help assemble the cams and the delrin piece that locks the 2 cam sprockets along with a piston pin puller

got the top end off today -

my buddy the hd mechanic couldnt believe the amount of crud built up on my pistons and heads with under 18 thousand miles- my compression was bumped up real high- its about a 1/16th on the tops of the pistons and equal on the combustion chambers

After I saw a little oily crud in my throttle body, I routed the breathers to the outside on my air cleaner. Nowhere near as bad as my old sporty, but I don't want that crap in the motor. You might want to look into it. : )

took a whirlpool and had that exact thought-i am doing compression releases and that stuff would ruin them-found a used jims cr tool so i can do it myself then resell or do a tool rent with all the stuff ive bought to do the job-

had heads a few weeks now- just got off my lazy azz and drilled and tapped the compression releases-
took a piece of mdf and mounted heads to it -

drilled after setting up jims system

spots were you get into fin ends

tapped for releases

and 1/16th hole into chamber

finished

first head took me about 1/2 hour because i was scared and had to recheck everything at least a half a dozen times - second head took less than 10 minutes-

also those are s&s dual springs and caps instead of beehives

well i found a sudden fit of energy and got the cams out - front shoe has some wear

must be getting tired- just installed a cam bearing backwards- round side out-
took it back out and threw it away - on hold till i get a new set
