I'm a bit vertically challenged. I bought a new 08 Road King and struggled to get my feet flat on the ground. I also struggled to reach the bars while "laying back" in the seat on a long ride. After researching lowering kits, new bars, reach seats, Mustang seats, etc. I called a guy who does custom upholstery and also rides his Harley alot - like already has 20,000 miles on his new 08 Road Glide this year! Trust me he knows seats! I brought him my seat and back rest. He took my stock seat and shaved it down, narrowed it, put memory foam in it, and even re-did my wife's back rest with a nice lumbar support. She loves it! When I installed the newly formed stock seat on my bike, I also ended up loosing the handle bars and pulling them toward me an inch. I'm now cruising in style. No more wobble at stop lights, no more legs spread out so far that my that I feel like my crotch would rip, and my wife no longer has to ride with a small pillow in her back. I'm the happiest guy in the world right now. I'm also glad I didn't buy a new seat and have a worthless stock seat laying around. The guy lives in Monrose, MN. He does custom canvas work on marine applications and Harley seats "on the side". He wants to make it part of the business. He could have done this over the phone and just mailed him my seat but I live an hour away so we met in person. Nice guy - knows Harley up and down - been ridin' for years. He has already done dozens of 08 Road King seats - guess it's a common problem. By the way, I have a 30" inseam. I'm 5' 8". I'm now at least an inch closer to the ground and much closer to the bars. His business name Canvas Works. Ask for Duane Smith. He has a website. I won't give out his cell number without permission.
