Tough tale but back surgery and a damaged left leg mean it is time to leave my Ultra and move to something a little lighter and configured a bit differently. Completely sucks, but "real is real". Considering a Fat Bob with ABS or a Switchback. Test-drove 'em. Several hundred pounds lighter and seems easier to navigate around the suburban roads (nothing will match my Ultra on the interstates!).

Have valued your opinions and recommendations over the years.....

Thoughts?

If you are going to take longer trips Switchback. If just for cruising the FatBob.

I would look at a Heritage Classic vs the Fat Bob. You can strip it down for cruising and add it back on for touring...that's why I have mine.

Problem with any and all Softails is less handling ability. Stick with the Dyna's. For an all around bike, I think the Switch is the way to go. The Bob looks great but it's more for cruzin than long hauling with. I love the swosh of the rear fenter and personally, between the two you mentioned, I'd get a Wide Glide.
