Pipes, high flow air cleaner, cam. Re-jet carb.
Probably under a grand +\- for parts.
Good ignition - jets (190) main (48) pilot - DK outlaw Air Cleaner - re-route oil misting system (EPA) crap - CVO Performance Velocity Stack - Boyesen Twin Shot Adjustable Fuel Control - RB Racing LSR 2 into 1 exhaust system & Cam adjuster up-grade !

P.S. ( do not use DYNA-TEC ignition module ) !!! Its junk !

Ride Safe & Ride Righteous .
The RB Racing pipe will cost him close to a grand & make 10-15 less hp than a comparable 2-1.

My vote- Cycle Shack slipons, SE or Ness Big Sucker a/c, re-jet & a mild cam like a SE 204, Crane 300-2, Andrews 21 or 26, or S&S 509.

Could have saved us some typing if you had said what you already have done.
Yes. Cams and heads would be the next step.
What sort of cams depends on where you want your power band. Low and mid-range. < This is where most Street Riders prefer it. Or top end.
Also if you ride mostly solo or 2 up.
What sort of load if any you normally carry on your bike.
still riding the F7? I've still got my 03 800 Bikeman BB with spray,(w/600 decals on the side) and like to tear up the Rev's that come out to play on "my" lake
I'm leaning the same way as you, but I'm thinkin of going up to a 98"

The cams listed in my 1st response are all very nice bolt-in cams.

As far as heads, depends on what you want. Bean at Big Boyz does a nice clean up/street port for short $. WFO Larry & Kirby at Vee Twin Performance do a very nice street port for right at $500. If you do the labor yourself, you can do the cams & heads for under $1K & have one hell of a strong running bike.

ride solo 98 percent of time

We can help and we are just up the road from you.:)

What kind of gains will I get by changing cams and will the gains be worth the money ? 204 cam good for stock motor ?
We'd suggest a Crane 300, or an Andrews 21 for a plug/play upgrade in that machine.:)

Agreed, I had the Andrews 21 cam installed , best $ I spent on my fatboy. Really woke up the motor, runs great souds great.

Just change cam and nothing else needed ?

You'll need a fuel adder if not already installed.
Always tossed in new lifters with a cam swap too.
Personally do no know if the 88`s had adjustable push rods. I do`t think they did. May want to consider a set while your at it.
