I know this foum is for recommended products but this is a product/company i will not recommend.

I am a premium member of Fix My Hog. After receiving many emails about good deals on their products like 50 % off i decided to purchase a set of their maintenance tapes. Well to my shock they do not ship to Canada. The person I spoke to said that it costs too much to the members to ship to Canada which made no sense to me. It is a bit more expensive to ship to Canada than in the US and it takes a bit of time to fill out customs documentation but in my mind they just cannot be bothered to take care of clients North of the border.

They do have some of their maintenance tapes that you can download for a price so I paid the price and purchased their download on how to rebuild an S&S carburetor as i want to work on my chopper'ss S&S carburetor. No problem and it was easy enough to download. then came the fun part. the download bugged at the same place no matter which reader i tried to use to open the download. I could get a little over 55 minutes into the instructions and then it stopped and said there was an error. Well after trying a few times to get past this corrupted segment and wasting a few hours of my time I could not so i contacted Fix My Hog and on the same day they said they would get in touch with their IT department and send me a link to a non corrupted file.

This was the 7th of April and I still don't have either a fixed product or a reimbursement for the $$ I spent. I have communicated with them a few times and had one answer asking if i had received the fixed download (22 April). I responded that i had not and still no fix or even a communication.

Frankly irrespective of the reason they do not want to deal with Canadians i find this treatment completely unacceptable and will not waste my time or money on a renewal with them. Although there is a much larger market in the US there are still a lot of Canadians that ride Harleys and frankly the way I have been treated and feel Fix my Hog can go F*** itself

thought you would like to know.

Won`t fix your dealings with that company.
But may be able to get the video viewable. What format is it in. Meaning what are the last 3 letters after the period.

to respond to cisco it is for an S&S carburator on my custom saxon chopper which does not have a service manual as it is made of many different parts E.G.S&S carb, S&S motor, PrimoRivera transmission etc.

it is in the following format QuickTime Movie (.mov)
thanks

If EvoRK`s suggestion does`t work I have had some luck being able to view some file formats by converting them to another. But mostly flash to mp4 or mp3.
I do not use quicktime.
But have a read here. 4 Ways to Convert a MOV File to a MP4 - wikiHow Some options are free. Others...not so much.
There are likely other methods too. A google search for "converting .mov" is your friend.

S&S rebuild videos on YouTube. And if you need help rebuilding a S&S carb, better not try anything else. That's about the easiest carb to do.

I purchased the DVDs a few years back. They shipped them to me in Alberta without a problem.

I guess time changes everything.

Just a follow up. after posting here and on two other forums i belong to I got an email this morning with a new link to the video i was looking for that worked so they corrected the problem. Funny it only took 3 weeks and maybe it was only a coincidence that it happened after i posted and sent them an email with a link to my three posts.

I am quite handy and do most of my own work and have rebuild carbs in the past but unfortunately with age comes some unsuredness about the memory so i prefer to have as many resources as possible at my fingertips before embarking on a repair.

Somewhat old thread but I just found it. IMHO the Fix-my-HOG service is a good value and has been helpful to me, a backyard self-taught wrench, as I take on tasks on my bike.

Any more a search of youtube generally yields good results , between that and my HD service manual and occasional inquiries to the local dealer service dept I've been able to handle all my own service .

I think they are a joke also. All my premium membership got me was a barrage of emails daily wanting me to buy their products--- which I have not purchased any of. Buy a good service manual and forget about Fix My Hog!!! Just my 2 cents worth.

Are they actually still in business yet, I'm astounded to say the least if they are !

I do have the factory service manual and I always refer to it but since Harleys are really scarce where I live, seeing how a professional actually performs certain jobs is quite reassuring for me. Bob La Rosa, in particular, not only explains everything in detail but also speaks in a manner that is not hard to understand even if English is not your native language. Therefore, I became a member of FMH with great hopes. After realizing that only premium members truly benefit from their offerings, I upgraded to premium membership as well.

All went well for the first year, other than innumerable e-mails full of rudimentary sales tricks. When it was time for the annual membership renewal fee, however, my confidence was totally broken due to FMH asking for more than five times the amount for the first year’s premium membership. I bought a bundle of their CDs for future reference, arguably at a reduced price, and I cancelled my membership.

For me, the first year’s premium membership fee was fair. I still enjoy having FMH CDs for my bike at hand but I cannot get along with their business understanding.

Not much cost after the videos are done. Just hosting and obviously poor customer service costs.
