Floorboards on a Late Model Sportster?

9060 Views 38 Replies 11 Participants Last post by  jumptoc
I was wondering if anyone has put floorboards on their late model Sportster? I have a 2014 Superlow 1200T with Harley aftermarket forward controls and the V&H Big Radius exhaust on my bike. I see Led Sled Customs makes a floorboard for Sportsters, but I'm not sure if their custom bracket will fit with my exhaust. Anyone have these floorboards on a 2014 Sportster?

I have a 2014 XL1200C. I just sent an inquiry to Led Sled. Hope to hear back from them soon.

Please let me know if and when you do hear back from them. Thanks!

Just give them a call rather than email... I did when I was doing mine. Great bunch of guys to work with.

Since I was using a different exhaust that interfered with the mounting brackets, they sent me some additional parts to make my own on that side.

Welded the base, checked for fitment...

I then had it powder coated.

All this to tell you that sometimes it is just best to pick up the phone and call.

Wow looks great, nice, neat, and very professional. I'm not surprised you do neat work since I can see your garage floor is ceramic tiled and very clean and neat also. lol

:) easier to clean after I am done. Floor has seen its share of welding, grinding, oil, grease, dropped tools, you name it. Some degreaser and a light scrub and it looks great again. Not bad for .78 per square foot. I did the install over a weekend.
Kuryakyn P/N 4392 . Adjustable and easy.

Ha, I just ordered these yesterday and saw your post this morn. I hope they look good on the bike. Do you actually have them on your bike?

My wife has them on her XL1200C. I think they look good. Be sure and use lock-tight on the bolts once you've figured out where you like them positioned.
I saw a note with this part saying it won't fit the drivers side of 2011-14 xl1200c. I have a 2014 and so according to the note, they won't work on my bike. After you install them let us know how they fit.

Will do and thanks.
They were actually sitting by my door when I got home tonight. I didn't mount them yet, but I held them up to the bike and I like the look.

I'm almost certain it says it wont fit because the late model Sportsters with forward controls have an offset clevis. Drag Specialties make a clevis that replaces the offset one. I ordered those also, but they haven't arrived yet. Once I switch the clevises the mini boards will fit. Here is the link to the offset clevis adapters. You can get straight ones or ones that extend 2". I went with the straight ones...

How big of a pain is getting the forwards on? I've got a 2014 Iron and ordered the HD kit. I've read it's painful to install, but hopefully less pain than my wallet would feel having the dealer do it.

I don't understand why anyone would say it's a pain to install the forwards. It's actually very simple and straight forward. You'll probably be able to do it without even looking at the instructions once you lay out the kit and see how it all fits together.
Thanks! Hopefully the offset clevis deal won't slow me down too much.
looking forward to seeing how these look.
I have a 2014 XL1200CB and there seems to be a limitation on so many parts so waiting for some pics so I can think about this comfort mod :)

Well the new HD Forward Controls only accept the HD OEM pegs due to the offset clevis. If you decide to want to change the pegs you'll need to buy the clevis kit Drag Specialties sells. That's what I did because I installed mini footboards. The HD pegs were uncomfortable for me. The first picture shows the HD offset clevis next to the new one from Drag Specialties and the second picture shows the Kuryakyn Mini Footboards I went with.

Thanks...much like everything else on the bike, this won't be cheap! Let me drop some more cash on the adapters!
