I have a Fat Boy S. Did a lowsider to the right and the gearbox, which is located right beside the foot peg, crushed my foot. No bone breaks, but the soft tissue damage took several months before I could walk without pain. When I look at metatarsal protectors, they're all designed for a downward impact. Anyone aware of a protector against a sideways impact?

Yeah, I've ordered crash bars. The bike won't look as sleek, but I'm not going through that again. Maybe a 180 degree metatarsal protector is my million-dollar idea.

The book says to "always wear sturdy footwear". I assume you were V2?
