I have a 99 ultra classic, 22,000 miles. One day my fuel gauge just started bouncing around. Obviously the float bounces up and down when the bike is moving but now it is reflected in fuel gauge. Give it gas the needle goes to half, hit the brakes it slams to full. Sit at a light and don't move the gauge reads correctly. Is it the fuel sending unit or loose ground?

There is capacitance in the gauge to prevent this. Of course I'd check it all before I spent money, but my suspicion is the gauge itself.
