I have a 2003 Softail with a fuel leak. The spot welds holding the bracket on the top plate (I'm talking about the bracket that the console attaches to) have cracked. This plate is not sold separately from the fuel pump, which is working fine. Has anyone ever successfully repaired this plate? I'm afraid if I weld it it will warp and not seal. Any suggestions.

I am a welder/fabricator and I'm not certain, there are several methods that may work to keep it from warping but I only have one shot at it as a new fuel pump assembly is not available until March. I even considered building any entirely new one that is slightly heavier than stock but not real certain about clearances. If anyone has tried a method that is proven to work, or has one they would like to sell please let me know.

I've had a lot of success with JB Weld...slap some on, clamp the bracket to the top plate, wait til cured...reassemble, go riding...
