Hi all, I recently picked up a 99 fxdx super glide sport. I am putting a new tire on the front and while I'm at it going to do all the front end maintenance as well. I am unsure about the mechanics of the top and bottom adjusters. My shop manual doesn't cover this. Don't have the owners manual either. My question is:

-When changing the fork oil, can I pull adjust bolt out of the tube cap bolt or do I have to Pull the tube cap bolt as an assembly?

I know that top controls rebound and bottom controls compression damping. BTW this is a great forum (joined in January), and have learned a great deal of knowledge. Thanks in advance.

You need to remove the whole adjuster cap as an assy. Don't change the adjuster position.
