Guess I'm gonna have to wait some more to be a Dyna rider...

I just came back from my unlimited license test, after dropping my foot down during the 8 figure... 😩
Very disappointed, but also thankful for the lesson. I rather wait and know I pass the test properly because I CAN ride, and not just because I WANT TO.

Oh, and why am I telling this to YOU? Because who else am I gonna tell about this? You people are my people (well, I'm trying to be your people, really....)

Hoping to come back soon with some better news...

Thank you, yes. We are required to take lessons before the test. I did have 4 days gap between the last riding lesson and the test (between Thursday and Monday) and it felt like too much space. This time I'll do it right

Do not despair!
My wife was so upset about failing the riders portion of the test on her first attempt...
It took over a month for my best friend and i to coax her into retaking the test.
(She had been a semi-pro MX racer in her teens and early 20's) She can ride!
She passed with flying colors on her 2nd attempt.
Keep the chin up as they say!
Thank you!! I hope 2nd time would go much better.

I can imagine your disappointment Chico. A couple of tips (you already know them): practice, practice, practice. Look where you want to go. Part of the look where you want to go that is not always explained completely, look UP to where you want to go, not directly in front of you. Good luck on the next try.
Thanks man, I appreciate it! Real name is Dave , BTW I did look. But honestly, I also did look at the tester, hoping to hear the "move on" words, and while doing that I got nervous and lost control over my balance and foot... needed to have more faith and security in myself, as the lessons went pretty smoothly... I'm just anxious to "be there" already, guess that's what it is...

Keep your head up both figuratively and literally. These things happen. Look where you want to go and keep your speed up enough to make the turn. One of the biggest problems with the low speed stuff is letting your speed drop too low or pulling the clutch all the way in and trying to coast through it.
Do you have a bike that you can practice on? Find a parking lot and practice what you learned from the class.
Remember that the best riders out there were beginners too.
You can do it!
I currently own a 250cc Joymax scooter, and in the test I ride an MT07 - totally different in terms of weight distribution, handling, sitting posture, etc. Generally speaking, I've been able to gain control, confidence and stability on the MT, in practice. But, when the moment of truth arrived I was so eager to just get it over with, that I locked eyes with the tester instead of watching my 8s and when the curve arrived, I guess I just wasn't ready.

I see you know what you did. As said by others b4 focus. DO NOT LOOK DOWN. Keep head an eyes up and head swivels like owl.

Biggest problem I've seen with scooter riders, with automatics, is clutch control.
Yeah, I will admit the clutch was a bit foreign to my untrained brain. I watched a lot of videos on YT to help me better understand the technicalities of the clutch and how to use it properly in the test, and in life - slow speed control and all that. I did learn a lot from watching the vids!

Happy to announce that I passed the test on 2nd try! I was much more clear minded and relaxed enough to not let the 8s mess up with my mind and even though the last time I rode that MT07 was literally the day I failed the 1st test, with no lessons in between and a terrible night. Against all that, I am happily taking one step closer towards that sweet Dyna !
Thank you ALL for the support and the energy boost. It helped a lot more than you might think
