Hand Shields For an Iron

2102 Views 16 Replies 9 Participants Last post by  jumptoc
I am already freezing my hands off (upstate NY) but want to extend my riding season. Any reccomendations for a good, functional, good looking (and hopefully cheap) hand shield that will keep the wind off my gloves? I bought some $80 HD gauntlets last year, and like them...not looking to get heated gloves, just something I can bolt on to the bars to keep the wind off.

I've seen the plexiglass shields, but am not really a fan. Any other good looking options?

Thanks!

Don't think any of them are going to be "good looking"....

Choice you gotta make.... function vs form.
Get some and only have them installed when needed. I've yet to see any guards like that will look good.

Thanks to all for the advice. I went really cheap and got some snowmobile handguards (Velcro over a foam ring on your handlebars)...rattle-can paint, but they still make my bike look like a moose. At least my hands are out of the wind! Vehicle Road Asphalt Automotive lighting Automotive exterior

If you are happy and it works...That is all that matters!

Glad they work, but are they really as big as they look in the picture? I know sometimes things get distorted in photos, those look huge. I like the velcro idea. Very smart on your part getting those.
They are that big. They go on for long rides and then come right off (with no trace) and into a backpack.

Where did you buy them?
Looks like a Moose :rollin:laugh

Photos of the other side?? To see how they are mounted.

Glad you got it sorted out. Like you said, they serve a purpose and they are off when you are done. Good for you. :thumbsup

In 10 years (when I'm in my 50s and hopefully promoted) I'll get a nice bagger (Street Glide) that will keep the hands warm. Until then, it's Velcro snowmobile guards!
I have a trip to Key West this coming January... this looks like the perfect setup to protect my hands from the cold.... I will be borrowing your idea.

And the horde's of Love Bugs...

I had a pic of my Bigrigs windshield that was completely covered with Love Bugs. I had to scrape them off with a razor blade!
These are $49 delivered from Amazon (Powermadd SG1) and go on/off in less than 60 seconds without a trace.
