Hello All - New to the Forum

Hello all, Hope you had a happy new year. I picked 2015 to try an learn more about Harley-Davidson motorcycles. I am a long time Honda rider and current own a 2012 GL1800 with ABS.

I particularly like the electronics upgrades that the Rushmore project brought. I am interested in the 2015 Ultra Limited and maybe the 2015 RoadGlide Special. I have not test ridden either bike yet, but probably will this spring.

I need a ride that can serve several purposes from commuting to work, short weekend rides, and finally long-distance touring. Perhaps there a few of you out there that have switched from GL1800 to Harley and can share your insights.... Thanks in advance

Best advice I can give, is to test ride any that interest you, an make a informed decision, based on your own experiences. You will get a lot of opinions, but ultimately it comes down to what YOU feel comfortable on.

Personally....I would tell you Road Glide.

Welcome from Kentucky. I can't tell you about any GL1800 comparisons as I have never ridden one. But I did sit on one once.

And like Stangs a couple of posts back, I would steer you to a Road Glide.

But whatever you get, enjoy the heck out of it.

Welcome from Virginia! You have 6 or 7 options depending on your budget and appeal. It goes from the Road King, Ultra, Road Glide and Street Glides to the trikes. Go to the dealer and have them put one of each side by side, then once you weed some out, go for the bike fit testing. you can test handlebars, seats height. Plenty of things to do and think before you decide, even the colors. It's up to you on what you like, and it's a miracle the RK ants didn't come out!

Thanks for the feedback Joe... What specifically do you like better about the Road Glide vs Ultra Limited ? ... or other HD models?

The biggest difference is that the Ultra has everything hanging from the triple tree and the fairing shield moves. the Roadie is a fixed front fairing so your handling is lighter. I have an Ultra and swear by it, 2stangs has the Road Glide and swears at it!
