I had been wearing a 3/4 Vega helmet I bought at a HD dealer several years ago. Every time I went in a Cycle Gear shop in the last 2 years I was always looking at and trying on 1/2 helmets. About a year and a half ago I tried on a Bell Pit Boss 1/2 helmet & bought it. Most comfortable helmet I have ever had on. Like the flip down tinted eye shield and you can order a clear if you want.
About every half shell I had starts flipping up around 75 mph unless I wear a bandanna or hat underneath. If it is snug enough to not do that, it seems too tight and gives me a headache after about 250 miles. Tough to recommend anything anyhow, my buddies have sworn by different helmets but none seem to fit right, maybe an odd shaped mellon?
I have tried several half helmets. My most recent purchase was the Akoury 88 which I absolutely love. Before that I was using a Daytona half which didn't fit my head shape. The Daytona would be best on a rounder head. Mine is more oval and the Akoury fits perfectly and is very comfortable. It's also much smaller and doesn't cause the mushroom appearance as much. There was a great thread here about them...

They're expensive but worth every penny.
Bell pit boss. My first half helmet. Nice and adjustable. I still wear my full face ones on the freeway and longer rides. That one is for in town and short rides.

Here's my experience. On my softail with high windshield, I wear a half helmet and sunglasses. No buffeting. With my Ultra (stock batwing, stock windshield) I wear a 3/4 with retractable face shield. The Ultra buffets the crap out of my sunglasses, so I can't wear the 1/2, even with the vent open or closed.

Just my experience, however.
On my Superglide with windshield my half helmet is fine. But, since I normally don't have the shield on, a half helmet hurts my neck at highway speeds. So if I'm in a helmet state I prefer a full face width no windshield. The aerodynamics put way less strain on my neck.

Akoury 88 here they are smaller than my skid lid and dot approved .
Tried several halfs, but found nothing that was comfortable. As others said, If I tightened them too tight, headache otherwise brain riveting buffeting. Maybe I just used the wrong ones.

Now, I get almost none of it with a full faced Shoei and Batwing wind deflectors. Not trying to change what you want, but this is my experience. With the padding and venting on the Shoei, I can ride in the most extreme heat comfortably.
I have the black bell rogue which is a cool helmet in the spring and fall time. I wear a Daytona slim line half helmet which is much better than most. This is my first year wearing one, wife really got on me this year. Been thinking about trying biker helmets.com they claim to make the smallest DOT helmet on market.
I got my half helmet at the Harley Dealer. Love it. Under 50 visor up, over 50 visor down. It has the bar/shield logo. I have velocity glasses so they darken when needed. Motorcycle helmet Vehicle Motor vehicle Motorcycle Helmet

Here's a picture of me picking my son up from school.

I bought a Pit Boss for this years trip through helmet country , flip down visor, I didn't have much use for. The best feature is the dial adjust band as found on hard hats , keeps it from lifting off trying to chock ya.

I'm going to remove the visor also , the decorative one, to round off the front of the helmet and get rid of the spoiler effect.

I've been wearing goggles on the hwy for a while now , they stay put at 80mph , not bouncing around like my glasses did.

I can tell you the Akoury is smaller than the Daytona and probably one of the smallest DOT out there. The bikerhelmets.com helmet looks very similar to the Akoury but I have no experience with them. Even has the same ratchet strap. The price is very close also. If you end up going with this helmet, please post pics.

Never heard about Akoury helmets. Do you have any pictures? The daytona I have is slim but I wish is was thinner. I know someone will bash me but going from no helmet to this is improvement. Send some info of that Akoury helmet.

Try this.
I got one that is the POLO style. I like the visor bill on it for those Sunrise/set hours.
