I am replacing the primary cover on my 2000 1200XLHC and the shifter arm bolt will not come off even after removing the bolt. It is making it so I can’t remove the whole cover.

I have gone through my owners manual and cannot find the info. Not to sure how to move forward please assist.

If you get the bolt out of the shift arm then use a pry bar behind the shifter to force it off the shaft. A squirt of WD-40 might loosen the shifter up.

Hey mac. Since you run a shop and are getting free advertising as well as advice from a retired Indy himself.
Think it is only right you pay Schmidty a % off the top of whatever you charge the customer.

A battery terminal remover may work , or a small gear puller.....

or you can take a small screw driver and tap it into the slot with a hammer to spread the end of the shift lever enough to slide it off of the shaft.
