Hey everyone,

I realize not everyone likes or carries a firearm so please disregard if you're not interested. I have been around firearms my entire life. I've carried a self defense firearm most of my life too.

Sometimes when I'm riding with my wife she doesn't like my pistol jabbing her in the leg as I carry it strong side at the 3 o'clock position. So, I went in search of a solution and found Muddy River Tactical. They make a holster that has a metal support that attaches to your locking nut in your bag and the holster itself is made of Kydex. You can get right or left hand versions. This allows me to keep my carry gun with me and not drive the wife nuts. I thought I would share:

The holster is about 3k in and no issues with it coming loose. The nut stays put as does the holster. I even cram all sorts of stuff around it from time to time and it still seems to be rock solid. I love the look of leather but I prefer kydex due to the fact it doesn't hold moisture against the gun. I also carry appendix from time to time but I still prefer strong side carry on the bike when alone.

It would seem your leather setup is a bit more conservative on the space. I haven't ran into a storage issue with my holster so far though.

One thing to mention: Since a portion of the gun muzzle is exposed and I am left handed and like to carry cross draw, I have to be careful when wearing jeans cause the rivets in the small "watch pocket" as I call it on Levi's will rub on the muzzle if I don't place the holster just right.

I don't use leather anymore as it keeps moisture against the gun. I have multiple holsters that I cycle through from summer carry to winter carry, plus I will switch things up depending on what I'm wearing. I've never been a fan of multi-use holsters as everything is a compromise and I prefer purpose built holsters. I played with the early Alien modular holsters years ago and wasn't impressed. I also prefer to have my muzzle covered because I often sit on the ground.

I found some jeans that have a knife pocket so it keeps my holster from hitting the knife, which is nothing more than annoying because my gun is protected by the kydex. I believe they're Lee's. They also have a stretching quality to them even though they look like denim. I don't know what they did or how they achieved the stretching but they are outstanding for riding. The material doesn't bunch up around the man parts ultimately racking me.

That looks nice. My new holster came in the mail yesterday. Clinger "gear" holster with the optional pad. It is extremely comfortable with the pad, but does make it print some if you're not wearing a jacket or something that covers it better. The pad is removable and still comfy without it. I also like how easy it is to adjust cant angles.

I'll have to look into an option like what you posted. I had a friend go down a couple weeks ago. He wasn't seriously injured but had a firearm around the 4:00 position. It bruised him bad when he hit the ground. I'm thinking about saddlebag carry, then putting it in my holster once off the bike.

Have you considered a shoulder holster? A lot faster to get than having to lift saddle bag lid and dig for gun when you have to.. Especially when the ol ladies leg is in the way. Just saying.

I use a carry vest or jacket. That seems to work well for me. But, I'd really like to find a nice scabbard for my Henry 30-30 for the bike.

Not concealed, but for an open carry state, a fellow rider has a holster on the rear cover on his lowers, easy to get to while riding, and easy to switch to a holster as soon as you get off the bike.

Having it in a bag defeats the purpose of carrying at all, as noted above. Thankfully, AZ is not the mucking fess that CA is about firearms, but CC on a bike is not a particularly practical play when dealing with bad guys-unless you're off the bike when shit goes down.

I never said I carry it in the saddle bag while riding, I said I store it there when going into a Federal Building or somewhere where they don't allow firearms. (See green text below from my previous post.) I carry appendix IWB while riding. At least the states that allow me to carry with my CA and AZ CCW permits. While on the last 3 cross country trips this last year and a half, There were some states that prohibited me from carrying at all. At the state line, I would break my gun down, store them in my saddle bags in parts, and lock all the parts up nice and safe. Next roadside rest or gas station in the next state, I would pull over and inconspicuously reassemble my gun and strap it back on till I got to the next super liberal state that wouldn't let me carry. I had to actually make a spreadsheet on my phone of which state I could carry in, and those that I couldn't! It was really nice to have that holster set up for that reason alone.

I carry IWB at 4:00-5:00 because that's the only way I can without printing. It's sometimes bothersome with having the backrest if I am carrying in my jeans (though not as much an issue if I am carrying in the waistband of the over-pants, which I don't like doing because when I get somewhere and take them off, I have to pull it out to transfer to my jeans, but it's different when travelling where I will be wearing the over-pants all day). I don't have to worry, states that don't recognize my Alabama CCW are all places I don't go to anyway. I don't avoid them or anything, they just happen to land that way.

But I don't think this would be for me even if I did go somewhere that didn't recognize my CCW permit. Some of those places have laws that say the gun must be locked and in a case, and I can't put a lock on the gun in a holster like that. Just something to consider (transporting laws).

Becareful with that as well, states like NJ you can't even be in possesion of hollow point ammo.

i have a henry 30-30 also. way smoother action than my winchester. if i could only have one, i'd take the henry. it surprises me to say that but it is what it is.

The Henry's are slick, and now that you can get a loading gate for just about every caliber, they are more normal than having to load them like an overgrown .22.

I have a FFL. Years ago I got a Henry .22 lever gun for a fellow. When it came in I worked the action. Honest to God. I thought it was broke. That is how slick and smooth their actions are.

Sig Sauer )with me and not drive the wife nuts. I thought I would share:

Wonder if they have some leather options, not a huge fan of Kydex.
@rapier57 I've seen some custom made ones for horseriding(you can probably hit your local leatherworker for one, probably would need some adjustments though)
