Ok so I'll get straight to the point. Should I wait to get my endorsement back from Washington(live in California) to be able to go to the dealerships and test ride bikes or do I go ahead an get a bike that is within my budget. I rode an 883 iron a week ago liked it. Just didn't like the 3.3 gal so thinking about going with a 883 low. Do they ride the same?

I'm not sure what an "endorsement" is. Is it like a "permit"? I got my KY permit years ago with only an eye test and 20 or 25 question exam on a computer. Was totally legal. Permit was good for 3 years and I dilly dallied around for 2 years before taking the riding test (Joke--you'd have to fall off the bike to fail). Endorsement/permit/whatever as long as it makes you legal to ride then ride and let the paperwork catch up to you later.
My license transferred from California to New York when I moved. Just had to pay the license fee. Why start over? 883L is fine around town, but mine has 3.3 gal tank and plan to replace the seat. IMO
Endorsement is the license. If I got a California license I would lose my Washington residency.
Joe a KY endorsement? Up here we just go to the pharmacy and buy it,located right next to the condoms. No test or anything. Lol

Your OP says you live in Californica. Why are you trying to maintain WA residency? Are your vehicles in Californica with you but registered/licensed in WA? Vehicle registrations, driver's license, etc., etc., sounds like sooner or later something will trip you up and cause more problems than you want. What about insurance on vehicles, your home/apartment, etc.? What address does your employer and health insurer have on record? Too many computer entries with your info on them these days.

Yeah, we got paperwork to do for everything these days.

When's your RG due in? Anxious for pics and your comments on how you like being on a shark.
Still waiting for it to arrive at the dealer. I'll post up as soon as I get it.
I'm in the Marines so Washington is my home of record so there for that's what I claim as residency.

Makes sense now. Did you ride for your endorsement and are waiting for it to come in the mail? M1, M2 or M3?

I maintained mine, and I have the M3 (1,000 CC and up).

I would never plunk down thousands of dollars for a bike without at least riding it first. So, my vote is wait until you can test ride the thing before buying it.
