Question for Kirby or Scott:

Do I need to buy the Jims compression release installation tools? Or,
can I just set up on the mill and to it 'freehand'. If so, what special
drill bits would I need to get?

Thanks in advance.

You can do it in a milling machine.
Just need to spot-face large enough to get a socket in there (3/4" center-cutting end mill will do it) as well as provide a smooth surface for the crush washer, along with the tap drill for the release being used, and I use and .080" drill for the thru hole.
On T/C's we install them on the left side, and all Evo's/early S&S engines, and Shovels, I put those right between the pushrod tubes, about .700" above the cylinder head gasket surface.

Another question about comp. releases.
Have you guys tried the releases that the spark plug screws into then the whole assy. screws into the spark plug hole ??? Are they any good or ???
I have yet to encounter a bike with them installed and I'm curious.
