OEM? Never saw a set "blow"..... Unless youre having a back firing issue. Lube with silicone cream. Install. Good for 7-10 years. Unless its a 2006 xl which had a one year only intake gasket with issues.
(overtightening)they don't like me to post this, but`
try take the carb off
haVE A PARTNER hold the intake level
butter-lube (lightly) the "o" rings with RTV
tighten the clamps, but don't overtighten.
let it dry overnight
reinstall carb.
any excess thatt balls up will go out the exhaust.
i did this in '75 on a FXE and never had a intake problem again
Trying to figuire out why you posted this more than once.
Install dry or with a light coat of silicone spray, clean the intake manifold and flanges with steel wool, install and square up to the heads.

thanks for the insight. Dave63, yes OEM, and yes some backfire. its been one year since we put new re-man motor in, also has highway cam in it.

You need to cure intake backfiring. This will happen no matter how good the gaskets are.
Carbed bike or efi?
