I keep hearing about using a leaf blower to dry the bike I am new to Harleys. just wondering what other people use? on my gold wing I use towels but on my softtail seems like it is going to be a pain

I recently bought a leaf blower, but in the past I just went for a 15 minute or so ride out on the highway to dry it off.
Leaf blower works fine and nothing to wash or hangup either. :thumbsup
Leaf blower Stihl.

Battery powered, no cord to string out and roll up. :D
Yep, electric leaf blower. Works great. Much easier than a cloth to get the water out of the switch housings and engine fins.
I use my gas powered leaf blower. Really gets the water out from those hard to reach areas.
I'd tried the leaf blower and all I got was elongated water spots. I just hop on and take the bike for a ride and then give it a quick wipe down when I get back. Seems to produce better results at least for me.....besides, it's another excuse to take a ride.

Water spots.........you're not getting it dry them. :eek
More fun hitting freeway for high speed pass get water out:thumbsup
Leaf blower or shop vac.....
Ever since I saw some trashy bikini bike wash girls using the leaf blower I have been a big fan. It gets the water out of the electronics and switch housings better than a fast ride. I don't like the ride dry because then I get dirt and bugs hitting me before I wax and polish.

I use the electric leaf blower, then follow up with my fluffy towel on paint & chrome.
Take the big long nozzle off. Get a vac hose from home depot that will fit the blower nozzle. Put a 3" to 1" reducer nozzle on the end of the hose. You may have to squeeze the hose to an oblong shape to fit the blower.
Now you hold the leaf blower in one hand and wave the nozzle around to blow off the water. I used an Electric blower and had to modify the bottom. That meant removing the safety cover and putting a wire mesh screen over it instead. Gorilla Duct Tape is the only tape to use.

You need to restrict or force the air through that reducer nozzle so you get a nice concentrated stream of air. A lot of cheap cheesy leaf blowers won't do a good job unless you modify it.

I can't show a pic of my setup right now because it's up at my buddies house and he's in Elk camp for 2 weeks.

Glad to see so many positive responses.

A couple 4 years ago I said, on a different site, I used back pac blower and you'd of thought I raped 8 or 10 of their 12 year old daughters. I was trashed bad for not using a filtered heated little baby blow dryer.

Go figure!
