Get the latest Owner's manual for your model of bike. HD now give a setup procedure that takes a reference from the height of the headlamp to mark a point on a wall some inches below that.

My bike was the other way round that the light was too low so any light looked rubbish.

The UK made it an inspection failure (MOT failure) ifa LED bulb is fitted in a halogen reflector headlamp.

Now on the LED headlamp inserts, I have my doubts as to any one being particularly better than another. We just get a warm feeling paying $200 to $300 for a lamp thinking it is going to get us reliability and quality. If you paid me $300 for a $50 headlamp I for sure would give you a very long warranty especially if I could sell another few thousand units to all your mates.

I honestly suspect the cree leds used in any of them come from a very small pool of manufacturers all with the same kind of figures for light output and longevity.
