Loud Exhaust

I'm new to the forum and I'm sure this is on here somewhere but frankly I'm onboard ship right now and have slow slow slow access to the web but access non the less, which is nice, however I have very little time to scroll through the threads. Anyways I'm trying to research for new pipes to put on my 2005 Sportser XL1200C to make it nice, loud, bassy and throaty. But not too obnoxious I'm sure you know what I'm talking about. The sound you hear when you think Harley, along with a performance upgrade. I was looking at the Vance and Hines Double Barrel pipes and the short shots but I would like some more ideas or thoughts from anyone who may have them. I decided I'm going to put a screamin' eagle heavy breather system on there to aid in intake which should pump up the HP in itself a little. I was also told to look into Thunderheader I think they were called. Any suggestion/information will help tremendously. Thanks Everyone!

I have ultima snub nose on mine and it sounds great. I don't think it killed any more midrange than gutted stock pipes.
Theres a lot of different pipes, it's kinda like oil. Everyone has a different opinion. Thunderheader is great, better power an sound about 600 bucks. Rush an V&H, slipons sound good. You need to go where theres some bikes and listen to the different pipes an then decide what you like. if you go to my garage pics, you can see what a thunderheader looks like.....it's pic #4. Pic #1 is V&H straightshots.
Loud pipes

V&h, can't go wrong! IMHO.
Depends on your budget too, I have Cycle Shack and no complaints. Plenty left for more beer.

Those are some sweet bikes guys thank you for the advice too. Sounds like I just gotta go and check them out somewhere. Ill also look into these other ones that you mentioned.
I got the V&H 2-into-1 big radius and know what you mean by obnoxious loud. Dropped in a SmartPartz quiet baffle which actually gave it a really great low rumble while still sufficiently loud. Added bonus was the awesome sounding thunder like grumble on deceleration.

Seawolf, where in NY are you?
My buddy shopping for pipes was just going to bike night at some of the local bars and asking ppl what pipes they had, most people are very wager to let ya know lol. The dk customs thunder torque inserts changed the sound of my short shots made them a little louder

I really like the way those pipes look on your bike. :thumb
WELCOME Seawolf from Upstate NY. You can't go way with any of the advice given. I have V&H on Ultra and SE on the Softtail the SE's are awesome.
I would'nt swear to it, but i don't think the 2 into 1 big radious are available for sportsters. They have big radious 2 into 2. When i bought my thunderheader i researched the 2 into 1 for sportsters. Depending on the look your looking for you might wanna check out the D&D bobcat.
Likely not Z. But the funny story is that the 2-1 isn't supposed to fit my bike according to the V&H website and the customer service techs I spoke with. But yet, there it is and still have no idea why they claim it doesn't fit. Went right on.

Twasnt as much about the 2-1 specifically, just illustrating that the quiet baffle options on the market can help with the over loudness concern while still maintaining the much sought after rumble.
I just ordered the D&D Bobcat last monday! They are on back order for 2-4 weeks, soo it will be a while before I see them. Good luck with your search!

I'm in Westchester County man but right now i'm out to sea. Anyways

Also I didn't know you can listen to some of them on the J&P site, guess I have to wait until I get off this ship to make any further decisions involving my exhaust. I'll definitely be using everyone's advice on here thanks for the ideas!

Personally, I think the net doesn't do any pipes justice. I would want to see and hear in person if it was a factor. You can also go to YouTube ,some videos do ride bys and get some distance away.
When deciding on a set of pipes for any Harley you really have to do your homework because the price can run the gammit of as much as $900.00 a set to as low as just over $39.00 for straight through chrome drag pipes for which you can buy some cheap baffles if they get too loud for ya .
