On my 2011 FLHTP with 22000 miles all stock, voltage would drop randomly and motor would cut out. So I replaced voltage regulator, but motor still cuts out at random.
Then it is hard to start. when it does start motor goes directly between 2000 and 4000 RPM, so I kill it and then start it again and it starts up normal. I'm thinking ECU.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Avoid ECU (ECM). Test the charging system. Check the stator for shorts and opens, test alternator AC output and check idle volts at the battery terminals. Idle volts should read more than static volts, around 13.5v.
A fully charged battery will read 12.8v > static.

Check for stored codes, the procedure is a DTC sticky in the electrical section.

got code "P0118" engine temp sensor high
"C0562" ABS Voltage low
and "C1095" hyd pump motor
So I ordered a new Engine temp sensor, and will drain break and refill brake fluid (its 3 years old)
Will keep posting till it runs right
The ABS needs to be bled by computer.
