I have a 2005 sportster 883 that was given to me as a gift, it did not run and such. I spent a little money and been doing some work to it, new rectifier, new stator, new battery. Pulled everything off, powder coated, new tires, new wheel bearings, gaskets etc. cleaned it out. The tank and fenders are currently getting painted, no current pics of them. I just bought some black caps for all the bolts etc. So it should all match.
Here was my beginning.

currently in progress.

ha, yeah, I've lost my own threads. So just making one and keeping it. I have about 2k in the bike in parts/painting/misc. Just hope the paint turns out nice now! :| really risked it, right now I think its ugly, hopefully the clear brings it to life lol.

I'm just fuggin with you on girls bike... I own a sporty.

As long as all the prep was/is good on the paint time and some elbow grease will pull it all together.

I like your progress and as long as you like it in the end, that's all that counts.

This bike was given to me by my mother. She has cancer and can't ride it anymore, her health is bad and the bike has sat for many years. So she wanted me to have it, so instead of selling it or letting it just sit I wanted to get it running and actually use it but I didn't like it as it was per say paint and such. Its more sentimental than anything. It'll make her happy knowing im riding her old bike lol. I've put some work into it. I am keeping it an 883 as It'll just be me commuting around/enjoying the summer shine.

That's really cool - hope it will be a blessing to you and to your mother, watching you enjoy it! The build looks great.

Sorry to hear about your mom... Just get it back together good and solid so you can roll safe.

Who knows maybe she can take a short ride or two with you when you get it together.

I will keep your mom in my prayers.

Nice looking bike. are you doing any performance modifications ? I love the sportsters they are the oldest Production of all Harley Davidsons still in production since 1957 . I have rode cross country on mine with no problems. A 6th gear for the Interstate would be a welcomed improvement .I have no problem cruising at 75mph the older bikes have the 4 speeds and change in chain to belt helps.
