I have a 2005 sportster 883 that was given to me as a gift, it did not run and such. I spent a little money and been doing some work to it, new rectifier, new stator, new battery. Pulled everything off, powder coated, new tires, new wheel bearings, gaskets etc. cleaned it out. The tank and fenders are currently getting painted, no current pics of them. I just bought some black caps for all the bolts etc. So it should all match.

ha, yeah, I've lost my own threads. So just making one and keeping it. I have about 2k in the bike in parts/painting/misc. Just hope the paint turns out nice now! :| really risked it, right now I think its ugly, hopefully the clear brings it to life lol.

This bike was given to me by my mother. She has cancer and can't ride it anymore, her health is bad and the bike has sat for many years. So she wanted me to have it, so instead of selling it or letting it just sit I wanted to get it running and actually use it but I didn't like it as it was per say paint and such. Its more sentimental than anything. It'll make her happy knowing im riding her old bike lol. I've put some work into it. I am keeping it an 883 as It'll just be me commuting around/enjoying the summer shine.

Its silverleaf and it turned out really nice. Hopefully it looks good with my gloss blacked out trim.

I think I should of left the air cover chrome to blend the engine with some chrome lol. Could'nt of known that far in advance. Probably could pick a cheap one off ebay i'd imagine yeah?

I found oem unopened chrome cover for 50 bucks on ebay. ordered it, if i dont like it, i'll simply black out the tank. easiest/effort fix. Do you guys think people will think my bike is stock out of curiosity? I don't know much about sportsters nor have I seen many in person.

my previous picture doesn't show its justice. to me it looks kinda ugly in the pic, lol went today to pay for the paint and such. had more light in the shop. took a pic. Its going to look killer in the sun. I cant wait! im taking it home next week to let it cure in my garage. When I have it' i will be changing things up and such finalizing it with bolts and such too.

I am not liking the chrome cleaner :| good thing I got it cheap on ebay. but I feel like theres no chrome upfront.. mmm ideas? I am thinking about chrome insert in the black.

how about this in the black cover?

im not seeing many options for air cleaner inserts, but this is the best one ive seen imho.

Ya ever thought about blue filter with chrome insert?

im not having then paint my parts blue again, cost and just effort/annoying to them. lol. stuffs already paid and done. Oh I had them line the timer cover with blue in the grooves too, cant really see in pic but theres some blue accents.

That insert is almost 30 bucks! jebus. but im tempted to order it up. I should be able to sell the chrome cover for atleast 50 bucks, it is brand new, was unopened sealed box. craigslist it up or something to recoup the money.

Shes done... I figured out what I wanted done. I just rinsed her off, its still dirty from the dust/dirt on it. but just wanted it all off so when I wipe it, wouldnt scratch it. The battery cover and oil cover are the same black as the other ones, its just they are dirty and this is brand new clean lol. tomorrow I am going to soap them up and make them all clean.

Went to a few places today, everyone was circling around my bike and looking at it. wooh. It ran like a champ too, didnt skip a beat. To be honest, I only weigh 150lbs, but this sportster is quick, it jumps 0-60 almost instantly and has no issues on the highway. I was really debating between 883 and 1200 but this 883 works fine for me. Reading all the threads saying 883 is a turd, just cant see why unless they are heavier or a bad running bike?

most of the people looking at it was chics lol. idc, id rather have a group of chics around me than dudes anyday!. but yeah, seems like all the ladies was looking at the color over the guys.
