This is my 74 Sportster 900. Going to clean it up and post a better image asap. If anyone could give me any info about the bike (extremely new to the Harley world) that would be awesome. Only thing not original are the drag pipes installed by the previous owner.

Getting a Harley for free is never a bad deal lol, I'm full to admit I know street bikes but I don't know a damn thing about Harley's. Is it odd that it's a 900? I can't find anything about it

Nice bike. I see it has the S&S set up. Those covers can be cleaned up with a lot of patience and elbow grease. Mine where horrible. Wet sand them with 1000 grit sand paper then use 00 steel wool. Polish with polishing compound and buff them out. If it has clear coat use spray stripper to remove it first being careful not to remove any other paint. Spray on and use a brush to cover the erea

If it's a '74, it will be a 1000cc motor. It could be a combination of a lot of different year parts, though.

Actually did digging and ended up riding out to a specialist near me, got everything looked over and it's all original, it's a 1974 XLCH 900 California. Apparently not a ton of these hit the streets, and even less are still around (not saying it's high in value as some things are swapped like the s&s and the drag pipes) but it was appraised at 7 as is. I'm looking to swap the seat out for more of a touring seat since I plan on long rides and leaving everything else stock. It's a damn fun ride though that's for sure.
