New Air Cleaner and Ehaust...New Jets?

888 Views 9 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Dave63
I just picked up a Kuryakyn Hypercharger AC, and I am looking into getting Freedom Preformace Turn out Exhaust. This is going on my 2005 1200 custom. I know the AC recommends upgrading the jets in the carb. I am lost on what size to go with. Everything on the bike is currently stock. Any suggestions on what size to get?

46-48 pilot and a 175-180 is fine.

Worry more about the pilot. Mains are usually good.

Get a 46 and start at 1.5 turns out, as long as air/fuel screw is uncapped already. If not, it'll need to be uncapped.
I wonder if I would be better off getting a whole Preformace Carb Kit
If you want to pay $79 US for a few more bits that you really don't need, you can.

You have an XL needle already. XL needles never get shimmed on a stock 1200. Rarely on a Big Twin, unless cammed.

You only need to add the larger pilot. If it were a big Twin, I's tell you to get shims, jets and the gaskets.

But the reality is, the "gasket" is an O-ring that's reusable.

Bowl and pilot can be removed without removing the card.
Sweet! Just what I like to hear. Thank you!
Looks like I will have to stop at the shop tonight after work...

If you do`t mind ordering online and waiting a little bit. You may want to compare prices.

Yeah, I was hoping to get the bike up and running this weekend. Its a "hand me down" bike from the old man. And I haven't had time to work on it. And the parts just came in... Short of it is, I can't wait.
Understood. :thumb Enjoy.
Ok I picked up a 46mm pilot, and a 190 main. We shall see how things work out tomorrow!
Dave I know you said 170-180 for the main, would the 190 be too much?
Yes. You'd use a 190 main on a 1340 evo with a cam. Waaay too much for an xl. Its what I use in 88" carbed twin cams.

Main jets are pretty spot-on from stock unless cammed or a Cali bike.
