New Bike starts with key fob far, far away

I purchased a 2022 FLRT freewheeler with 31 miles on it. I noticed the bike will start even though the fob is far, far away. Did the dealer screw up? It only came with one fob and I have looked under the seat and the trunk and I can't find another fob so what gives. I have it scheduled to go back to the dealership but if I can find an answer before I will do that as the dealer is 85 miles away.

When you turn on the ignition do you get a single chirp and when you turn off the ignition do you get a double chirp and the same number of flashes from the indicators?

I remember when I bought a new 2013 RGC. Didn't previously have an alarm system and I was curious about the "range" of my fob. Went to a friend's and he stood by the bike and I started walking out into a field stopping occasionally and signaling to him to try to turn on my bike. I kept getting further away and he was able to turn on the bike without the alarm going off until I got a little more than 50 yards away. There weren't any buildings, trees or any other possible interference between me with the fob and him by the bike and the alarm didn't start going off when he turned the bike on till I was more than 50 yards from him and the bike. So from then on I was always a bit worried when I maybe was in a motel room and my bike was less than 50 yards away so I always locked the fork lock also.

I ride to work in the Spring and Fall when the weather (I live in Minnesota). I am one of the first people to arrive each morning so I get one of the first spots in the parking lot. My classroom is on the same end of the school as the parking lot so I can clearly see my bike when I sit at my desk and look out the window. Because I am so close to my bike, I ALWAYS lock the forks as an extra precaution.

Can you move the FOB far enough away so that the bike will not start?

I rarely go to to places where I'm worried about locking my motorcycle.
I saw a video of four guys with two pieces of pipe stealing a road glide in less than a minute. I take precautions, but if someone wants it bad enough they will find a way.
Good insurance with a very low deductible is the only solution I have.
It would suck hard until the replacement took my mind off of the old one

Sorry, I thought the technical part of the forum was for helping people, not telling stories.

No
Then there is a second fob stashed somewhere on the bike. My alarm will get triggered if my fob isn't within ~10 ft .

For months, I thought I had lost one of my FOB's & KEY, turns out I had them tucked inside my heated liner and I forgot they were there, and remained tucked in the bottom of my saddle bag for months, eventually I found it while cleaning the bags out.

Your bike might have had a second key/fob and it's tucked deep in one of the compartments.
Very helpful.

No reason to get snotty Kainam, and my reading comprehension fine, the op said it "lights up, that`s it". That means he is getting some voltage somewhere.
Lawl. Pot - kettle.

You have an extremely long history of crapping on people trying to offer help in this forum. Nobody is right unless they do things your way.
That sure didn't take you long.

Or; One thing to verify:
When you shut the bike off, watch the turn signal indicators: Do they flash? If not, you have a key fob for a missing security system.
Been there done that! Don't ask! However, Mr Dealer has some splainnin to do!

Umm, "dealer is 85 miles away"... Yo*u just bought a new bike and aren't looking forward to a 170 mile round trip with a reason??? Now I'm confused!

85 miles one way is like 1/2 way on a Sunday lunch run.
Gotta break that bad boy in somehow. Just sayin'

According to the dealer the bike left there with one fob. After talking to a friend and a general manager from another dealership he says the mechanic more than likely never hooked up the computer and registered the fob there by turning on the security system. It’s like I’m riding my old 72 shovel head. Remember to lock ignition and forks when walking away. It will have to be that way till June 14th when I return it to the dealer. I was hoping for a simple fix. Other dealerships will take me in sooner but they won’t cover it under warranty. I would be charged since the selling dealer was paid to preform the new bike service. Sorry but I’m not going to pay, so I guess I’ll live with it until my appointment date. I will post back when I learn the truth about the situation.
