New Guy From Virginia

Hey everyone, my names Jackstand Johnny. 28 year old new member from Virginia. Been since I was 21 but I've been on a mandatory break since I lost my left leg in a motorcycle crash in October 2012. Been spending the last 2 years dealing with bone growth and infections, surgeries and recovering with my leg and rebuilding the bike I crashed as well as building/selling a few others. I'll finally be getting my first prosthetic leg in a couple months and the plan is to have a bike ready to rife when I am.

I've spent the past 8 years building and riding streetfighters, but all my friends who ride own Harleys. I'm here because I've finally caught a break when a client/acquaintance of my Fathers agreed to go be me His basket case titled 70s Shovelhead Electra Glide with a sidecar. I have no idea what shape its in but I've been told its in pieces and is salvageable. No pictures of it yet, but I'll have some the day I see it for the first time.

So my plan is rebuilding it with as many good parts that come with it that I can, and any thing that's too far gone will get upgraded. Since its my first Harley and its a classic, its gonna be a mild custom build with a classy paint job and color scheme. Its still a sidecar bike at the end of the day and that's cool enough. I don't see a need to go overboard like I do with my streetfighters.

So that's it from me. Im looking forward to learning everything I can about these bikes and getting to know all of yall. Thanks for having me here.

Wow thanks everyone! I'm registered on probably two dozen forums(seriously) and its a rarity to see such a big warm welcome. I was worried this forum was dead like so !many bike forums these days. I'll definitely have a build thread here once I get started on it. Right now its a giant mystery. I don't even know what year it is or how many pieces its in.

So are there a lot of Shovelheads here? Anyone else rocking a sidecar or even perhaps a prosthetic limb?
glad you are here. Would love to see pics of the project.

There are a few shovels... And I know of one guy with a prosthetic... I'll let him introduce himself... This is a great place... Not dead at all!!!

Welcome to the forum from Illinois. Plenty of good folks and good information here.
Welcome from New Hampshire
Welcome from Houston.
Welcome to the forum!
Welcome from a Fellow Amp.
Been riding 2 wheels since 84. First bike was an 83 FXWG. Put over a 100K on it in the 13 years I had it.
Not sure what, if any help I can be but feel free to ask. Either on the Board or through PM`s.
Good Crew here.....just a bit warped.
But they allowed me in so you judge for yourself.

Welcome from Washington State, hope you enjoy the site... :cheers
Welcome.. Great that you are bringing a shovel back to life. The side car is cool and just a way to get back on the road..
Best place for shovel info....http://www.shovelhead.us/ been on it for years. Pics of pieces and boxes are good too.
Welcome from Fburg!
There was at least one other member who is a BK amputee.
Think he joined right around the same time I did. Do not think he posts anymore.
Anyone remember who it is? Search does`t go back far enough for me to dig around.
