Lacquer thinner does a good job cleaning carb parts.

Thanks. I received the Clymer service manual I ordered a couple days ago but I found it to be less than ideal.

I found a factory Harley service manual for it on eBay and it just got here, so now I can start referencing it instead of being the n00b asking endless annoying questions LOL.
Questions are good. Now you will have a manual to reference the answers to.

I am not real familiar with that particular model of carb, but the tab on the float usually goes into the loop on the spring on the float needle. This way the float needle is lifted off the seat by the float, as well as as pushed into the seat. There is no O ring on the seat. The viton tipped needle just seats against the brass seat.
