New Metzler 888 on back.

Just put on this tire this morning. Put wheel back on bike and belt is about 1/8 inch from tire. I am getting some rubbing on the belt guard. I read somewhere you can trim this guard and reinstall it. Also have heard of people taking guard off completely. Anyone out there had to trim there belt guard or run without one? I installed a MU85/16 on my bike. It's a lot wider than I thought it would be.

I put the MU85 on my '02 and trimmed as follows. Remove the guard and cut the metal piece just behind the second rivet from the front. Remove the rear rivet, metal piece and trim the flap.
Thanks for the info. Gonna do this today!
Worked like a champ. Thanks for the info.
You will love the 888's. I have them on my 99' FLHRCI. I got almost 11k on the 880, I expect more from the 888. Just run @ 40-45 psi (I have them @ 44 front & rear) and you will love the way they ride and last.

I've tried various barnds over the years, but I've used Metzlers on all my bikes since 1997. Got great mileage, and shopping around, paid decent prices too, online of course :):thumbsup
Have had them on the bike for a while now and I can say they handle great. I went one size bigger on the rear and it just rides and handles 10x better.
