I am new to riding motorcycles. have a 2013 streetbob. for the first 1000 miles havent really gone faster than 3500 rpm because the manual said not to. so now even though im past 1000 miles i feel afraid to run the engine faster than that feeling like it would not be good for it. Is this thinking correct or can I run it at 3500 rpm for 4000 rpm around twisties all day?

I believe the Rev-limiter is set at 5800 RPMs. You will start losing power at around 4500 RPMs on a stock bike. So you can run it wherever you like it will not hurt the motor, that's why it has a Rev-limiter to keep it from over revving. If you get the stage 1 download you can have the Rev-limit set at 6200 RPM.

My Super Glide felt that way when I got it. Once I got to around 1500 miles it really loosened up. Now it has a little over 3000 miles, and I'm hitting the rev limiter now and again. It's at 5500 stock.
