No experience with 10.
May never have. Which version are you running?

2k was primarily aimed at business, business applications/hardware control and networking in that sort of environment.
An Engineer at a former place of employment is where I got my copy.

Gaming and eye candy are pretty much why I finally succumbed to XP.

Yeah, at the time I was an assistant transportation director for a school district and we had a computerized bus routing system we used. Huge resource hog. Right after I started, I was like "we need to upgrade this server." It was old, slow, and running NT. Luckily, they gave in and allowed me to order a new Dell server. 2K Server was an awesome OS for it, ran everything flawlessly.

If you like XP, 2K, and 7 - Windows 10 is a pretty comparable experience. Classic Shell will get you the Start Menu UI you're used to, and *most* of the rest just falls into line. If you can run a system with 2K on it, 10 Pro should be a breeze. :smile

How would that improve my porn stream? Is it worth it? If it helps, I prefer amateur stuff, not production...

I just discovered something pretty cool about Win10.

You can upgrade CPU and Motherboard without doing a complete reinstall of Windows.

I might just be jumping off the Intel train over to AMD in the next 6 months. :nod

Made the mistake of going to Microcenter before work yesterday as I had about an hour to kill....

Christmas bonus extinguished. Found a AMD 2700X CPU for $160, and got a fairly high end motherboard to support future CPU upgrades when the 4000X series comes out.

Well, I decided to splurge a bit and took the 2700X back to Microcenter and trade it in on the 3700X.

All set to do an upgrade on my PC.... pretty good run from when I built my current PC 7 years ago when I started this thread. Its been up and running 24x7 ever since that time.

Gigabyte X570 Aorus Master motherboard
AMD Ryzen 3700X CPU
Corsair A500 heatsink (due in on Monday)
Crucial Ballistix Elite 16GB DDR4 PC3600 RAM
Samsung EVO+ 500MB M.2 NVMe boot drive
Corsair 680X PC case

Rest will be swapped out from my current PC
Corsair AX 860i PSU
EVGA RTX 2060 Video Card
Samsung EVO 1TB M.2 NVMe storage drive

Biggest thing I noticed when searching for a PC case is that optical drive bays are non existent on cases that have the latest front panel IO ports (USB-C, USB 3.2, HDMI). So I'll have to pick up a laptop optical drive for when I want to rip CDs etc.

Was poking around on Newegg, and someone wanting to upgrade their PC could get a current CPU, MoBo and 16 GB RAM for ~$300.
