I'm new to this site and to harleys too. I see everyone refering to 3 holes to fill with oil. Engine, Primary, Tranny this may sound stupid wht does that mean? I have a 2009XL1200C Sportster and as far as I can tell just engine & Tranny oil changes. I have a belt drive so no chain.

You have 2,holes. Not 3. No porn intended. XL has engine and primary/trans. Big twins have engine, trans and primary. You have one less hole.

Big Twin Harleys have an isolated wet primary drive. So, it has it's own fluid. The Sportsters share between the primary and transmission.

You have a primary belt drive?

I think he meant belt FINAL drive.. Sportsters can't run a belt primary because the transmissions can't get lubricated then.. But I could be wrong on that maybe there is a kit to isolate the Trans so it can have its own fluid

Sort of why I asked.
Think there was a belt conversion for older models. Figured he bought his used. Saw the belt secondary and him being new to HD made an assumption.
Live and learn.
