I got real sick a few years back almost passed over to the other side. Once back on my feet I decided there was one thing missing from my bucket list. I wanted a bike and of course it had to be a Harley. I took a class sponsored by the Highway Patrol and with the help a friend I bought a 2015 XL883N with 3500 miles on it. I only drive it locally and avoid going on the highway. I do my own maintenance changing the oil adjusting the clutch but two things have popped up and I don't know how to identify and fix the problem. It starts up without a problem. Once it warmed up and I increase the throttle I get a popping sound almost like a back fire. I like figuring things out but still little intimidated by the bike and not sure where I would begin to identify the problem. I'm open to any suggestions or starting points.
The next problem is of bit more problematic. there is an oil leak. I've been told by my friends all bikes leak oil. I'm not sure if it's true but in any case I'd like to identify what is causing the oil to drop on my driveway in garage floor. It is coming from underneath the motor. It is not coming from the primary drive cover. There seems to be a seam behind the clutch assembly on the engine itself where the oil drips. I am afraid that there might be a gasket that is damaged. Again, any suggestions would be appreciated.
