Looking For Riders In The Pa. Area

My husband and I are from Boothwyn, Pa. Looking for someother riders in the surroundings area. He rides a 2007 Ultra Calssic and I have a 2009 Sportster 1200L. I'm new at this and he is definitely an experienced rider, "my riding coach" who has my back.

If you REALLY want to meet some riders from the Philly area, check out http://www.ridenowforautism.org

This is a HUGE rally that takes place this coming Sunday beginning at the Camden waterfront and consists of a police escorted ride to Atlantic City followed by a great after party all supporting a very good cause. I think last years rally attracted over 2000 riders?

Hi Chris,
Thanks so much for the info and would be very much interested, but we had planned to go to York this weekend for the Harley Open House.
I just purchased my Sportster 1200L a few months ago and would like to change up to a "Hertiage Softail Classic", just want your riding. I want a bigger bike with a different look. How do you like yours--------------Pros and Cons. Hope to demo one this weekend.
Thanks

The autism ride is actually on Sunday. I think the York Open House ends on Saturday. We were going to do the open house before this ride came along. Now we're actually thinking of doing both.

PROS: The look, the feel, the ride. Also the fact that I can change it around by removing the windshield and or the saddlebags and create a completely different look very quickly.

CONS: Fifth gear! Very noisy due to it being straight cut. A characteristic of all H-D six speeds. I've gotten used to it now though and consider it part of it's "character".

The heat issue. It bothers some more than others. I had the EITMS activated and that solved most of my concerns.

Thanks so much for all you info, you have really been helpful.
My husband has an 2007 Ultra Classic and you want to talk about heat issues, OMG they are horrible. He is in the process of getting that changed.
If the ride isn't to rough to York this weekend, we will probably try to make the Autism Run on Sunday.
Again Thanks for all your help.

No problem at all. I finally posted a picture of my bike as an avatar. What is your husband doing about the heat issue. I know there are cheap and there expensive fixes. I'm leaning towards the XiEDS which is the cheap way out.

My wife is content....for now anyway..... to be a passenger which is fine with me. As long as she wants to go along for the rides, then I'm happy. The Sunday ride will be our first longer ride together. We usually just head over to New Hope which is just 15 minutes from us and is not as bad a place as some make it out to be. Just gotta play by the locals rules.

You guys ride safe yourselves....

Chris,
OMG! That is beautiful, that is what I want!. I hope it doesn't rain for this weekend so we can get up to York, so I can try this one out.
My husband it going to change to Reinharts and have it remapped. Not sure if I said that right, but that is the way he is going and YES it is very expensive. I rode with him for three years, one year with a Road King and the last two on the Ultra Classic. The heat that comes up from that bike, makes my ankles and feet swell. We would bring ice packs, so when we stopped I could cool my tootsies off:)
Evidently that was a big problem that year. I don't have to worry about that anymore, I have my own:)
New Hope I hear is a great town, would love to see it.

Thanks. My wife actually picked out the color. It's a very cool metal flake that really shines when the sun hits it.

So he is going with a Stage 1 it sounds like. That's the real way to go. The heat problem existed in the softail and touring models in 07 and 08 from what I've read. I only really noticed it on the Heritage when the outside temp was over 90 degrees or so and I had to idle at a light for awhile or in stop and go traffic. The EITMS activation solved most of those issues however.

The Ultra is a REALLY nice bike in itself. We plan on keeping the Heritage for a couple of years and then moving up.

New Hope is a nice little town in spite of what you might read about it on the forums. The local LEO's do enforce the noise and parking regulations, but we've never had a problem there. We get over every couple of weeks for breakfast at Lulu's which is a very biker friendly little eatery right on Main Street. If you guys ever want to head up there, send me a PM and I'll be glad to give you the route with a couple of really nice back roads to get there. Make it on a Sunday and we'll even meet you for breakfast.

I hope the weather holds out this weekend as well. Lots going on in PA this coming weekend with the York Open House and the Autism Ride.

Chris, is the color on your bike "BlackCherry"? That's whats on my husbands Ultra Classic. It certainly does have that beautiful glitz in the sunlight:)
Sounds like a great idea about meeting on a Sunday in New Hope. We may take you up on that-----hopefully before it gets to cold.

Carol:

Not sure when they came out with the color. It's actually called Crimson Red Sunglo. They have a bunch of new colors out this year including some nice looking two tones. They also added some fringe here and there as well on the 09's and a new console. Other than that, the 08's and the 09's aren't much different. No new frame or anything like that as with the touring bikes.

Did you check out the weather forecast for the weekend? Not looking too good for either event right now. Saturday looks like a wash and Sunday is up for grabs depending on who you listen too.

Take care for now and pray for SUN !
